Health Forever Products International’s Jobelyn, a Sorghum-based nutritional product derived from the polyphenol-rich leaf sheathes of a recently domesticated West African variety, is currently undergoing clinical trials in North America and West Africa. Jobelyn contains a high antioxidant capacity (total ORAC 37,000 µM TE/gram dried powder), and has shown anti-inflammatory effects in multiple laboratory tests performed at NIS Labs. Treatment of human immune cells in laboratory tests with Jobelyn resulted in increased expression of the activation marker CD69 on NK cells and killer T cells, activation of monocytes/ macrophages, and changes in cytokine production. Of particular interest is the observation that Jobelyn treatment of human immune cells in vitro resulted in increased production of chemokines known to have anti-viral properties. Jobelyn may offer an adjunct nutraceutical immune support in patients suffering from chronic viral infections.
