Life Extension, Fort Lauderdale, FL, has introduced CalReduce Selective Fat Binder chewable mint tablets for weight management.
Alpha-cyclodextrin, a patented super-fiber is the primary ingredient in the formula that helps absorb fat molecules from food before it enters the bloodstream.
Research shows that alpha-cyclodextrin selectively binds to unhealthy saturated and trans fats without affecting healthy fats such as polyunsaturated fatty acids. In one scientific study, alpha-cyclodextrin was shown to cause an approximately 13% increase in beneficial omega-3 DHA blood levels. The soluble fiber in CalReduce absorbs nine times its weight in dietary fat, without undesirable gastrointestinal side effects.
Chewing two tablets after each fat-containing meal binds up to 36 grams of pure dietary fat, assuming two fat-containing meals are eaten daily. This is sufficient enough to decrease up to 320 calories from fat from food intake.
“If all your daily meals are high in fat, chewing two tablets of CalReduce Selective Fat Binder with each of three meals may reduce caloric intake up to 500 calories a day,” said Michael A. Smith, M.D., Life Extension senior health scientist.
The company said the supplement should be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and regular exercise program, and that results may vary.
