Here’s a list of a few new product launches to keep an eye out for this summer.
Emerging U.S. moringa brand and company Kuli Kuli is launching a certified organic Pure Moringa Vegetable Powder in key Whole Foods Market regions, including Northern California, Southern Pacific, and Midwest. With more nutrients than kale and more antioxidants than açaí, moringa is emerging as America’s next superfood trend, the company said. The rise of moringa aligns with findings of a 2014 survey (Sloan, E. Food Technology Magazine), which found that six out of 10 Americans are looking for natural, fortified, and functional ingredients and foods.
Oakland-based Kuli Kuli is pioneering the use and consumption of moringa in the U.S. market with its line of moringa products, including Moringa Superfood Bars, Organic Moringa Tea, and now Pure Moringa Vegetable Powder.
An “Ancient Green” eaten by indigenous cultures worldwide for thousands of years, moringa contains nine essential amino acids, 27 vitamins and 46 antioxidants. Because of its nutritional value, moringa has been promoted as a tool to improve nutritional security by international development organizations such as USAID, World Vision and the United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).
Moringa is naturally rich in iron and vitamin A, and also provides a complete plant protein, similar to quinoa or meat.
