Confused and misguided, Americans don’t seem to know what to do about their weight. A recent survey uncovered inconsistent behavior among U.S. consumers hoping to reign in unwanted pounds. On one hand, 85% of Americans claimed they know how to eat right, according to the Fat IQ Survey conducted by MDVIP and Ipsos Public Affairs. On the other hand, more than half of participants failed a simple test on dietary facts related to weight loss. Three out of four Americans said they would feel better if they tried harder to stay fit; however, 58% cited lack of motivation with a diet or exercise plan, and 55% pointed to lack of willpower to resist food temptations as key reasons their attempts at weight loss failed.
