Ingredion Incorporated has introduced BIOLIGO GL 5700 IMF galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS), a new prebiotic ingredient. GOS are some of the most studied oligosaccharides in the world, and provide numerous digestive and immune health benefits. The introduction of BIOLIGO GOS provides infant formula, functional food, beverage and dietary supplement manufacturers with a new safe, high-quality source of prebiotic soluble fiber to enhance the nutritional profile of their products.
BIOLIGO GL 5700 IMF is made from food-grade lactose; it is in the form of a syrup and contains a minimum of 57% GOS (dry basis). It is very stable in high temperature processes and low pH applications, making it suitable for a range of formulations from shelf-stable beverages and juices to nutritional bars and supplements. BIOLIGO GOS is currently manufactured at Ingredion’s modern facility in Icheon, South Korea, and meets the required hygiene standards for infant formula production.
