A new scientific human study being conducted at The Arizona Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University, Phoenix, AZ, seeks to determine the effect of Olivenol® on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA). Led by principal investigative professor Kathy Matt, director of the Stress and Neuroendocrine Research Center (SNRC), Tempe, AZ, the study is designed to test whether Olivenol can increase mobility and minimize pain by decreasing the swelling of the joints and the inflammation of the surrounding muscles, tendons and tissues. The double-blind, placebo-controlled study designed to capture the unique activity of Olivenol on RA and OA sufferers is currently in its early phase and is expected to conclude in the spring of next year. Approximately one hundred RA and OA patients aged 50 to 75 will be involved in the eight-week long study. Olivenol is Hayward, CA-based CreAgri’s formulation of olive polyphenols extracted from the pulp of organic olives. Olivenol contains Hidrox™, which is the company’s proprietary ingredient rich in hydroxytyrosol, a natural antioxidant.
