Over the past decade, krill oil has grown from a non-existent category into the second largest commercially available source of omega-3s EPA/DHA after fish oil. Representing 20% of the omega-3 market share today, krill is a multimillion-dollar industry with many product offerings. Aker BioMarine, a driving force behind the krill category, is throwing a special party to celebrate 10 years of innovation with its Superba Krill Oil brand. Everyone is invited to celebrate onsite at Vitafoods Europe on Wednesday, May 10 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm at Aker’s Booth H40.
During the anniversary celebration, Aker BioMarine will reflect on the past to when and how this all started, and take the opportunity to focus on the future path with industry partners and friends who have contributed to the growth of the category over the years.
“We are excited to celebrate this milestone at Vitafoods,” said Matts Johansen, CEO, Aker BioMarine. “I think it’s safe to say that krill oil is a major player in the omega-3 market and this is just the beginning. The future is bright and our company will continue to drive scientific discovery and innovation, while remaining committed to our customers and market as well as sustainability and education.”
In addition to this special event, the team at Aker is inviting all attendees to get their Omega-3 EPA/DHA levels tested at Booth H40. Did you know that an omega-3 Index between 8% and 12% is associated with better, total health and a lower chance for premature death? On the other hand, those with levels less than 4% are at risk of a host of health issues. The Omega-3 Index test is a simple step for helping to keep overall health in check, and everyone at Vitafoods will have the opportunity to get tested for free to see if their levels fall within the optimal range.
The company will also offer a special presentation about omega-3 phospholipids on Wednesday, May 10 from 11:35 am to 12:05 pm in the Life Stages Theatre. Nils Hoem, chief scientist with Aker BioMarine, will discuss “All you wanted to know about Omega-3 Phospholipids, but never dared to ask” with focus on:
- What makes omega-3 phospholipids so attractive?
- How to achieve a healthy and nutritional balance with omega-3s from krill
- Marine Choline: The often overlooked benefit in krill oil
