Orlando, FL-based food ingredient toxicology and regulatory consulting firm Burdock Group is sending four speakers to present at sessions during the annual Institute of Technologists’ meeting, IFT16 in Chicago, IL.
Drs. Wendan Wang and Lu Zhao will speak in the session How Can Industry Experience Enhance Curriculum? from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, in room S401ab.
Dr. George Burdock, DABT, FCN will present in the session Nutraceutical and Functional Food Regulations in the United States and Around the World on Monday, July 18, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in room S501abc.
In the session Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) in the New Millennium of Technology and Food Science on Tuesday morning, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., Dr. Alex LeBeau, toxicologist, will present The Death of Common Use as the Basis for GRAS. The session will be held in room S501abc.
Dr. LeBeau will also be presenting soon after on Tuesday morning, at 10:30 a.m., on FDA’s Guidelines on Nanotechnology in the session Nanotechnology and Food: What Are the Opportunities and Challenges? hosted in room S405.
Finally, on Tuesday, July 19th, Dr. George Burdock will present FDA Guidelines for Medical Foods: FDA’s Attempts to Limit the Development of Functional Foods at the session Understanding the Medical Foods Category from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in room S403.
In addition, Burdock Group will be funding 1-2 students to attend IFT16, encouraging students with interest and knowledge in the areas of ingredient toxicology, safety and regulations to apply.
