A blend of turmeric and Boswellia branded as Rhuleave-K by Arjuna Natural was linked to improvements in self-reported measures of menstrual pain, in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
Menstrual discomfort, which typically emerges during the first few days of menstruation and lasts for a 48-72-hour period, effects approximately half of women in their reproductive age, disrupting daily routines and downstream effects on quality of life for several days each month, the authors of the study noted.
In the study, the researchers recruited 60 women with primary dysmenorrhea, which is characterized as a painful menstruation unrelated to any uterine pathology, and only women reporting moderate to severe menstrual cramping were qualified to participate.
One group of women were administered a single dose of 1,000 mg of Rhuleave-K in two softgels, while the other received a placebo. The participants were only administered their treatments when the menstrual pain reached a severity of five or greater on a zero to 10 numerical rating scale.
After dosing, participants were evaluated every 30 minutes for a six hour period to track changes in pain intensity and pain relief. Compared to placebo, the mean total improvement in pain scores was found to be 12.6 times greater than the placebo group, with statistically significant differences at every 30-minute time point.
Rhuleave-K is manufactured with a blend of extracts of turmeric and Boswellia are immersed in an oil base and manufactured with the company’s proprietary Speedtech technology in order to improve the bioactivity of the ingredients. Its history as the subject of clinical trials mostly involves studies on musculoskeletal pain, according to the company.
“The excellent results we witnessed in the previous studies on musculoskeletal pain inspired us to see if we can extend Rhuleave-K’s benefits to other common forms of pain,” said Benny Antony, PhD, joint managing director for Arjuna Natural. “Menstrual pain is a relentless burden for countless women globally. Many depend on over-the-counter NSAIDs to get pain relief. Yet more and more women are turning to natural therapies as they seek a comprehensive and enduring solution for menstrual pain relief. Rhuleave-K has the potential to offer an easy and rapid natural solution to this common issue, our company is dedicatedto empowering women to take control of their well-being through natural solutions.Additional clinical trials are in the pipeline to further explore Rhuleave-K’s potential role in providing fast action menstrual pain relief and synergistic all-around support.”
