The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, announced that registration is open for its annual industry-wide events, The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science and The Conference: CRN’s Annual Symposium for the Dietary Supplement Industry, taking place Wednesday, Nov. 6, through Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, CA. Details are available here.
This year’s conference theme, “Destination: Vitality,” celebrates 25 years since the landmark enactment of DSHEA and invites industry stakeholders to look toward the next 25 years with thought leaders who will inspire and influence people to prepare for the possibilities ahead.
Preliminary featured speakers include:
Dr. William Li—world-renowned physician, scientist and author of Eat to Beat Disease, a New York Times and Amazon best-seller, who will share his connections between nutrition, disease prevention and health promotion.
Jeff Kreisler—best-selling author and financial columnist whose prized behavioral science insights help audiences better understand why people do the things they do—and what motivates them to change—shedding light on consumer use of supplements and compliance with wellness regimes.
Dr. Anil Gupta and Haiyan Wang—leading experts on global trends and business strategy, and co-authors of the new book, The Silk Road Rediscovered: How Indian and Chinese Companies Are Becoming Globally Stronger by Winning in Each Other’s Markets. Together, they will examine the challenges and opportunities China and India offer for both ingredient sources and new consumer markets.
Additional speakers and sessions will be announced soon.
The Workshop takes place on Wednesday, Nov. 6—this year, examining healthy aging, personalized nutrition, and advances in nutrition research tools. A networking reception that evening brings together Workshop and Conference attendees prior to the Thursday, Nov. 7, morning kickoff of The Conference.
Thursday morning opens with an address from a representative from FDA. Thursday afternoon is open for attendee networking via group activities—including snorkeling, a catamaran cruise, or CRN’s annual golf tournament. The annual Kyowa Hakko Fun Run & Walk takes place Friday morning, followed by a full day of sessions and an evening reception, dinner and entertainment. The Conference continues through mid-morning Saturday, beginning with the popular “Breakfast With…” session and more—to be announced. Previous year “Breakfast With…” speakers have included Doris Kearns Goodwin, Joe Scarborough, Bob Woodward and Jon Meacham. The final session ends at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
CRN offers four registration options: 1) The Workshop/The Conference package; 2) The Workshop only; 3) The Conference only; and 4) The Workshop and first day of The Conference. Attendees must first register for CRN’s events to be eligible for accommodations in CRN’s room block group rate at the Aviara. Attendees are urged to book their hotel room promptly, once registered, as rooms are subject to availability and have historically sold out at CRN conference host hotels.
The Workshop and The Conference also offer opportunities for companies to showcase their services before industry decision makers through sponsorships. Contact Carl Hyland at 202-204-7674 or chyland@crnusa.org for more info.
