ReddRox, Inc. joined forces with The PASS Foundation to help promote education and information geared toward changing public perception about what is and is not healthy. The PASS Foundation began simply because of a mother’s concern for her children. When Ms. Marie was researching healthy choices, she discovered compelling evidence that certain ingredients can have harmful effects on the human body. This launched her quest to find healthier alternatives. In addition, The PASS Foundation began a seal of approval campaign to highlight companies and natural food manufacturers that create healthy products.
Health E-Insights: You founded ReddRox several years ago. What’s the status?
Ms. Marie: In 1996, I was fortunate to spend a few days with the late C. Everett Koop, MD, former U.S. surgeon general. After he shared many stories with me, I learned that we are a very sick nation. Dr. Koop said, “at this pace we will lose the human race. We have poisoned our water and food and we must fix it now.” Four years later, by accident, I found the rooibos plant from South Africa. I called it Red Bush. This plant has the antioxidant profile of green tea— without caffeine or oxalic acid—and contains magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, potassium, plant sodium and fluoride. In 2005, a team of scientists worked closely with me for many months. Millions of dollars later we developed a high concentrated rooibos granular that allows our bodies to receive a high concentration of the plant. I knew this nutraceutical ingredient would change the world saving billions of lives. Rooibos is what I call liquid food. While the company was a great success for about a four-year period, I just needed to take a break.
Health E-Insights: What have you been doing the past few years?
Ms. Marie: Children are my calling. In 2010, I chose to go homeless for three years on purpose to do my small piece for humanity and help solve a horror story we know as the worldwide homeless children epidemic. I made this conscious decision to walk in the footsteps of children, parents and elders. Bringing the company back would be for only one reason, to save the millions of children on our planet. Then in 2014, I ran for the Idaho U.S. House of Representatives, because it was necessary to give back to a country I adore. While I didn’t win, I was able to tell people in the State of Idaho about this serious problem taking place right before our eyes.
Health E-Insights: Why did you create PASS4kids?
Ms. Marie: My son was born breech. While doctors didn’t recognize it, I knew there was something terribly wrong. Being treated just as a number, this is when the words came to me: “No Children, No Human Race.” So I started PASS4kids University to help children save our planet. I envision Rooibos in every child’s glass of water and ReddRox will be owned by the children of the world.
Health E-Insights: How has celebrity endorsement helped the PASS4kids cause?
Ms. Marie: I was introduced to several teams in the National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball. In 2006, San Diego Chargers personnel and I made a commitment at the NFL Pro Bowl. The PASS4kids logo will be a global symbol on all the food and water children are consuming and help save lives. As a result, I developed this mission statement, “To enlighten the nation with the necessary information to avoid the dangerous ingredients in our food supply and to protect our future generation from preventable forms of diseases such as obesity, cancer and diabetes.” As part of the ReddRox marketing campaign we gave away Sparrow custom electric guitars and that mission statement was written on the back of every PASS4kids guitar.
Health E-Insights: What’s your proudest career achievement?
Ms. Marie: While at that same NFL Pro Bowl I met Dave Redding, known as Redman, the head strength and conditioning coach for the San Diego Chargers. We made a verbal deal. Once he returned he was going to put ReddRox in the player’s water bottles. A few weeks later I met with Redman and he looked me in the eye and said: “you did it Lisa Marie. You will change the NFL and the world with ReddRox.” We probably came up a little short on player use, but those who used it felt it truly was a game-changer.
Health E-Insights: Who has had the biggest influence on your life?
Ms. Marie: Steve Morris, the founder of Sparrow Electric Guitars in Vancouver, BC, has dedicated more time to ReddRox and PASS4kids than his own company. This amazing man committed from the first day we met to help me run ReddRox as well as help bring PASS4kids to a much larger audience. I never met a human being so focused and dedicated on completing vital missions to fix our planet. This is when I learned all about the spiritually of gifted Indigo children.
Health E-Insights: What piece of writing has had the biggest impact on you?
Ms. Marie: There are three. Albert Einstein’s quote: “The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.” The late Steve Jobs’ Think Different campaign and Mother Teresa’s poem “Do It Anyway.”
Health E-Insights: Do you consider yourself fearless?
Ms. Marie: Yes. Since I was a little girl I don’t recall having fear. Being strong for my mother when she took ill prepared me, and if my mother left me or died then I felt I would not live in an orphanage. This way of thinking at age four prepared me for the hardest part of my life that spanned over a 15-year period. Very seriously I was asked by a very close friend “what are you not afraid of?”My answer was “may we start with what I am afraid of, because the list is very short!”
