A new study indicates Superba krill oil, from Aker BioMarine decreased rheumatoid arthritis scores in an experimental animal model. Results were published in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders.
Conducted by researchers at MD Biosciences, Neurology Discovery Services, Ness Ziona, Israel, arthritis was induced in mice by exposure of collagen, resulting in the development of severe arthritis symptoms. The study design included three arms: a control group with no omega 3 provided, and two groups with either Superba krill oil or fish oil diets containing equivalent doses of omega 3 fatty acids.
At the end of the treatment period, the arthritis score was reduced by a statistically significant 47% with Superba krill oil treatment compared to 26% for fish oil. For further information: www.akerbiomarine.com
