Celanese Begins Omega 3 Fatty Acid Production
Protos Biotech, the biotechnology unit of Celanese Ventures, Frankfurt, Germany, has signed an agreement with a fermentation company to enter the market for omega 3 fatty acids. Celanese aims to supply producers of supplements (particularly capsules) and functional foods and beverages with docosahexaenoic acids (DHA) from microalgae.
