Cyanotech Corporation, a cultivator and manufacturer of microalgae-based ingredients, has appointed Collette Kakuk as Chief Strategic and Commercial Officer.
Kakuk will bring her background in business development, strategy, marketing to add value to the company’s stable of products, including BioAstin Hawaiian Astaxanthin, and Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica.
Her industry experience and passion for sustainable and authentic product sourcing made her ideal for the role in the Cyanotech’s executive team, the company reported.
Today’s consumers are not only looking for more natural, healthy products – they also want them responsibly produced. I am deeply impressed by Cyanotech’s longstanding commitment to natural, sustainable production,” said Kakuk. “Growing microalgae in open ponds, under natural sunlight, with fresh lava filtered water is as old as time – offering the world of health and wellness access to the abundant benefits of this geologically unique location. I aim to tell the story of Hawaiian quality and authenticity, while defining and upholding industry standards to ensure public confidence in our category of wellness.”
“Collette brings a dual perspective,” Custer said. “She is both an accomplished, creative, and inspired business leader but also remains deeply connected to the mindset of a discriminating consumer, who researches and curates only the best healthy products for her family. She readily understands the distinguishing features of our products on a profound level.”
“Being a vertically integrated health and wellness ingredient and finished goods company located in Hawaii, there is no corporate calling more authentic, nor compelling, than our unwavering commitment to care for people and the environment,” said Kakuk. “As a company, this is not an add on or fleeting trend for us. It’s the essence of who Cyanotech is, and has been, since day one.”
