Wiley’s Finest announced that it will be eliminating the 100% recycled outer carton from its products in order to reduce waste, after it was used for 10 years. Instead, the company’s products will be sold by the bottle, and by the bottle only. By communicating its story digitally instead of on outer packaging, the brand expects to divert over 1 million cartons per year.
Most trash in the U.S. doesn’t get recycled or composted, and Americans generate an estimated 250 million tons of trash each year. Paper and paperboard, some of which could be composted and the rest of which should be recycled, make up nearly a quarter (23.1%) of America’s trash.
“Our customers told us the first thing they do when purchasing our products was throw away the carton, and that just didn’t sit well with me,” said Greg Lindsey, CEO.
The company is also looking beyond internal changes to other areas where it can contribute.
“We have partnered with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) on their mission to plant 50 million trees across the U.S. By purchasing American made Wiley’s Finest products you will be supporting not only your personal health, but the planet’s health," Lindsey said.
