NOW has appointed Katarzyna “Katie” Banaszewski, former director of quality, to the role of senior director of quality, and has appointed Yalda Shokooh, PharmD, PhD, to the role of director of science and nutrition.
“For many years, NOW has made our quality team a priority, which included recruiting and promoting the best talent we could find,” said Jim Emme, NOW Health Group CEO. “With Katie heading up the team and the addition of Yalda to our dedicated staff, NOW is well positioned to continue setting a very high quality bar for years to come.”
Since joining NOW in 2013, Banaszewski has worked to grow the company’s analytical capabilities. In her new role as senior director of quality, she will focus on recent issues within the dietary supplements industry and ensure NOW’s quality standards. Prior to joining NOW, Banaszewski worked at the Institute for Food Safety and Health, collaborating with academia, industry, and FDA partners. She has authored and co-authored multiple journal articles and is actively involved with the scientific community.
Shokooh has extensive experience in food and drug chemistry, laboratory setup, formulation, and pharmacognosy. She was most recently a professor at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine instructing students on pharmacology and drug effects/side effects while serving as a principal scientist managing the phytochemistry labs. She has been working in the natural products field for 18 years, with nine years of management and leadership experience.
