She was also a co-founder of an annual nutrition course for physicians with the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. In recent years she had also been affiliated with research programs at Stanford University, where she earned her doctorate in physiology, and The New York Botanical Garden.
She established the first week-long Continuing Medical Education Course on botanical medicine for physicians and other health care providers, held at Columbia and The New York Botanical Garden, an annual educational program that lasted 10 years.
She had been a long-standing and active member of the Board of Trustees of the American Botanical Council for 18 years, since 1999 until her death. During this entire time she was an outspoken and positive influence on the direction and role of ABC. She introduced ABC to many prominent leaders in the CAM community, many of whom have participated in ABC’s nonprofit research and educational mission, publications, and programs.
