Leveraging core competencies in nutritional research and innovation, Novus International, St. Louis, MO, has launched its human nutrition division, Stratum Nutrition. Beginning in 2010, Stratum will focus its efforts on growing a portfolio of specialty and functional ingredients that target business-to-business manufacturers of foods, beverages and dietary supplements in North America and Europe. Stratum Nutrition seeks to develop a portfolio of branded, value-added ingredients for human health applications, selecting from both internally cultivated ingredient systems, as well as technology partnerships with third parties to bring innovative, safe and trusted new ingredients to the marketplace.
In its first collaboration, Stratum recently entered into a “Technology Partnership” with ESM Technologies, Carthage, MO, in order to accelerate the global use of ESM’s NEM (Natural Eggshell Membrane) ingredient in supplements, functional foods and beverages. Through this partnership, Novus will infuse sales, marketing and R&D resources to advance the science behind NEM as well as the global sales and marketing of the product.
