The European Federation of Associations of Health Product Manufacturers (EHPM), Brussels, Belgium, has released the first pan-European manufacturing guidelines for food supplement quality to help companies comply with EU laws and ensure the production of high quality products. The “Quality Guide for Food Supplements,” which details both the legal and recommended production requirements from raw materials to finished products, allows companies to achieve a high and consistent level of quality across the 27 countries of the EU. Developed by a team of experts from the European food supplement industry, the guide covers all aspects of production across the EU, including manufacturing, quality control, packaging, distribution and storage. Its recommended requirements are based on examples of best practices to help maintain the safe and consistent production of supplements.
