ADM, Matsutani Form Joint Venture
ADM Co., Decatur, IL, has formed a joint venture with Matsutani Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and Matsutani America, Inc., Forsyth, IL. The joint venture supports the worldwide sales and marketing of the food ingredient Fibersol-2, which is a soluble dietary fiber ingredient that can be used in a variety of food and beverage applications, as well as dietary supplements. Invented by Japan’s Matsutani Chemical Industry, Fibersol-2 has been exclusively produced at ADM’s Clinton, IA, facility since 1999. ADM will continue to manufacture Fibersol-2 for both Matsutani Chemical and the joint venture.
In other ADM news, the company has launched a new service called Aspire Food Systems. This offering is designed to help snack food formulators bridge the critical gap between indulgence and healthful eating. Through this service customers are given access to ADM’s product development expertise, tools and ingredients to improve the nutrition, flavor and functionality of new or existing snack foods and bars. Among the options included under Aspire are customized formulations for snack pieces, cookies, trail mixes, crackers, wafers and nutrition and energy bars. Several ingredients used in combination offer unique potential, including isolated soy and wheat proteins; extruded protein pieces, Fibersol-2 dietary fiber; edible bean powders; vitamin and mineral enrichment blends; whole wheat flour; CardioAid phytosterols; crystalline fructose; low-trans shortening and soy lecithin.
