GNC Corp. and the Air Force Research Laboratory announced a $400,000 project to determine if a specialized form of whey protein can help aircraft pilots and crew stay alert during fatigue—including missions. The Downtown-based dietary supplements company will provide placebos and the protein, which is derived from cow’s milk during the process of making cheese, while the Air Force will provide up to 50 military personnel to serve as test subjects for eight weeks.
