Ethical Naturals Inc. (ENI) will be focusing on a group of its ingredients in strong growth categories this year at SupplySide West.
Cranberex
Cranberex, a high-grade cranberry extract, is suitable for urinary tract support, and the company has recently invested into research which reaffirms both the potency and efficacy of the branded ingredient. In 2016, ENI partnered with Rutgers University researchers on studies which compared the anti-adhesion activity (AAA, a measure of how well cranberry prevents UTI) and potency of Cranberex with other major branded ingredients. There were significant differences in both measures, and this comparison study has been repeated several times with the same results, the company reports.
'We got exceptional results 7 years ago comparing Cranberex to the leading market products,” said Cal Bewicke, CEO of ENI. “We felt it was time to re-assess the state of the market and so repeated the AAA and potency comparisons. The results were largely unchanged and showed the exceptional potency of Cranberex.”
The details of the newer comparison studies will be available at SupplySide West, ENI reported.
AlphaWave L-Theanine
ENI’s L-theanine ingredient is its flagship product in the stress relief category. It is now supported by two clinical studies which show significant increase in alpha brain wave activity and self-reported feelings of relaxation associated with supplementation. A third study evidencing the ingredient’s benefits is also nearing completion. AlphaWave is also GRAS, and is valued for comparatively high solubility and neutral taste for beverages.
Polyphenol-C
Another product ENI will be focusing on is Polyphenol-C, a complex of non-GMO vitamin C and wide-spectrum berry polyphenols from grape, blueberry, cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry. The ingredient has been growing in popularity, especially among European brands, and is one of ENI’s featured products developed as a result of the company’s long-term analytical work on polyphenol sources.
“This will be the 17th year that Ethical Naturals (ENI) has exhibited at SSW and each year has seen significant growth in the company's line of proprietary products and services,” said Bewicke. “ENI is uniquely positioned as a company that is both an industry leader in the development of botanical quality standards, and also has a cGMP production facility that allow us to supply our customers either in bulk or in finished product form.”
Other prominently-featured ingredients at ENI’s booth this year include GreenGrown vegetable-sourced glucosamine, the company’s line of encapsulated standardized mushroom extracts which are grown from the fruiting body only, and other U.S.-tested botanical extracts.
