Health E-Insights: Which is most important to your organization—mission, core values or vision?
Mr. Rothman: Core values. We are a 119 year-old law firm that provides mid-market value while offering large firm expertise. You can't help but do well for clients by relying upon core values that have served you well for over a century.
Health E-Insights: In what direction do you see the supplement industry moving?
Mr. Rothman: Towards greater reliance on research studies of specific product formulations, and science generally, to support claims.
Health E-Insights: Is there one message to the industry that you would want out there?
Mr. Rothman: Don't settle a class action without taking the deposition of the plaintiff first. You may have a defense you didn't know about.
Health E-Insights: What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should possess?
Mr. Rothman: A sense of humor.
Health E-Insights: What’s your favorite part of flying?
Mr. Rothman: Landing.
Health E-Insights: Do you have a favorite drink from the beverage cart?
Mr. Rothman: Virgin America offers a functional beverage with vitamins and EGCG called EBOOST made by Vitalize Labs in New York City. The product is similar to ones made by companies I represent. I wish more airlines would offer these products on the beverage cart.
Health E-Insights: If you could sit next to any person past or present on a plane who would you choose? And why?
Mr. Rothman: Sigmund Freud. Usually the person next to me expects me to listen to them the entire flight. It would be nice to turn the tables for a change.
