Weishardt International, the supplier of Naticol marine collagen peptides, recently received Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for its supply chain.
The certification from the nonprofit organization affirms the company’s adherence to sustainability standards set in order to preserve marine ecosystems and stop overfishing.
Since 1997, MSC has set globally recognized, science-based standards for sustainable fishing and the seafood supply chain, and contributes directly to the United Nations’ sustainable development objectives. MSC’s standards are recognized at the United Nations’ Conference on Biodiversity (COP-15), where it was highlighted as a key indicator for combatting biodiversity loss.
MSC certification requires third-party verification according to its standards, and the blue MSC label is only available to wild fish or seafood products from fisheries that have been certified to the MSC standard, by meeting criteria to minimize impact on ecosystems and endangered, threatened, and protected species.
MSC’s chain of custody certification ensures an unbroken chain where certified seafood is easily identifiable, separated from non-certified products, and can be traced back to another certified business.
