The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and Radicle Science are partnering to establish the Trailblazing Woman award, to honor the achievements of bold women in the wellness space. According to CRN, this is the first award dedicated to women in the health and wellness industry.
“We’re very excited to announce this award during Women’s History Month. These are the very women who are shaping both the history and future of the industry and thus impacting consumer health in meaningful ways. Considering more women use supplements than men, it’s critical to support female leaders in the industry and help close the gender gap that currently exists,” said Pelin Thorogood, co-founder and chairwoman of Radicle Science.
The award will recognize a woman who has shown leadership, mentorship, and commitment to the industry, celebrate her accomplishments, and inspire future female leaders.
“CRN is pleased to team up with associate member Radicle Science to present the Trailblazing Woman Award,” said Gretchen Powers, vice president of marketing and member experience at CRN. “CRN member companies are leaders in the dietary supplement and functional food space, committed to the highest quality standards and ethical best practices to provide consumers with products that are safe, beneficial, and essential to their health and wellbeing. This award will honor the excellence of women within these companies who have elevated the industry through their work.”
Criteria for nomination includes spearheading initiatives to increase women’s presence in executive and leadership roles, breaking barriers, fostering diversity, advocating for women’s empowerment, and contributing to women’s health research, CRN said.
Nominations will be open through Sept. 13 exclusively for CRN members. A panel of judges, including three representatives from CRN and two from Radicle Science, will review nominations and select five finalists. Then, CRN members will anonymously vote for the winner from the five nominees.
The recipient will be announced in October, and will receive a $2500 grant which can be used for leadership and board training, mentorship opportunities, and career development. The recipient will also be featured in a Fast Company article, and will have opportunities to appear in webinars and talks organized by Radicle Science, CRN, and their partners.
