Supplement company Ritual has expanded its pregnancy line with the launch of Natal Choline, which is formulated to support babies’ cognitive function when taken during pregnancy.
Over 95% of pregnant women, and 90% of women over the age of 19, aren’t reaching recommended daily intakes of choline from diet alone, the company reports. The new choline supplement is intended to be taken alongside a prenatal supplement in order to ensure that consumers are getting an efficacious dose of choline to achieve clinically-substantiated benefits.
The new supplement was formulated with a 550 mg dose of Vitacholine, which is in the form of choline chloride manufactured by Balchem. This branded ingredient was featured in a study by a team of researchers at Cornell University which found that a 550 mg daily dose of Vitacholine given to pregnant women daily was associated with significant improvements in information processing speed in infancy, and sustained attention in early childhood up to the age of seven years old.
Like all of its products, it is vegan, Non-GMO Project certified, third-party tested for heavy metals, and is part of Ritual’s Made Traceable open-source supply chain/sustainability program.
It is designed to enhance the effects of a prenatal or postnatal supplement, and to be taken once daily with or without food.
