Charlotte’s Web Holdings, Inc. has appointed Angela McElwee to its board of directors.
She served as an executive at Gaia Herbs, Inc. from 2008 to 2021, where she also served on the board of directors from 2013 to 2021, and has over 30 years of experience in wellness-centered CPG brands.
Her tenure as president and CEO of Gaia Herbs spanned 2016-2021, where she grew the brand at both the top and bottom line and converted it to a B Corporation. Her tenure as CEO led to her being named as one of RealLeaders 100 Women in Impact, and to Gaia being named one of Inc.’s Best in Business in 2020.
Prior to this role, she led U.S. sales at Nature’s Way Products, LLC. She currently serves on the board of directors at Cyanotech Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company, where she serves on the audit committee.
Her other board roles include venture capital-backed businesses like Reunion Foods Inc., Nuts for Cheese Inc., and the nonprofit Naturally Network. McElwee’s experience in the natural products and CPG industries gives her unique insight into Charlotte’s Web’s business and the competitive landscape, the company reported.
"Angela has an excellent track record of profitably scaling vertically integrated brands with effective go-to-market strategies and channel management," said John Held, chairman of Charlotte's Web. "She also brings extensive knowledge in marketing mission driven companies as a force for good, both through executive leadership and board seats."
McElwee will serve on the compensation committee of the board.
