Ingredient supplier AIDP has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with L-RD for its alfalfa protein concentrate, Luzixine.
The ingredient is vegan and contains high omega-3 fatty acid concentrations, with a protein content of 54%, substantially higher than the typical concentration found in alfalfa (20%). It contains all essential amino acids, with a digestibility of 70-85%, and has a standardized vitamin content. The ingredient also contains high levels of iron and folic acid, and has been evidenced to support growth in adolescents and children.
The alfalfa crop also comes with sustainability credentials, as its root system prevents soil erosion, the plant supports biodiversity, and it contains a microfauna and macrofauna which can be 100 times richer than wheat, the company reports.
“AIDP is excited to be the exclusive supplier of Luzixine for the Americas,” said Mark Thurston, president, AIDP. “Luzixine can be used in a wide range of delivery formats including capsules, powders, and beverages. It is a great compliment to our other plant proteins and provides customers a unique product for combination protein products.”
“We are thrilled to be working with AIDP, Inc. to promote and market Luzixine,” said Alice Prevoteau, business developer at L-RD. “AIDP’s expertise in both the plant protein market and supplement category, made them the perfect partner for our product.”
