Spee-Dee® Compact Rotary Fills Market Gap with Affordability and Versatility
Designed to run 50-80 containers per minute, Compact Rotary filler offers an intermediate option that can handle a variety of container types and sizes.
Nutraceuticals World (NW): Why did Spee-Dee introduce the Compact Rotary filler model?
Mark Navin, Vice President of Sales, Spee-Dee: We noticed that a gap in the market existed between traditional in-line/intermittent motion fillers and high-speed rotary fillers. While in-line systems run 30 to 50 containers per minute, most high-speed rotary systems are made for 80 to 300+ containers per minute. There wasn’t anything available as an intermediate option to these fillers until we introduced the Compact Rotary.
NW: What speeds can be achieved with the Compact Rotary filler?
Navin: The Compact Rotary is designed to run 50-80 containers per minute. This fills the gap between in-line/intermittent motion fillers and high-speed rotary fillers nicely. It offers an option that is both affordable and capable of increasing line speeds.
NW: What changes were made to reduce the overall size and price of the Compact Rotary compared to the high-speed rotary?
Navin: There were several things that we value and engineered to bring the size and cost of the Compact Rotary down. One is a unique turret starwheel design that eliminates the need for a timing screw. We also re-designed the guarding, the controls, and the vibration system.
NW: Can the Compact Rotary handle a variety of container types and sizes?
Navin: Yes, the Compact Rotary can handle a variety of container types and sizes. It can handle glass, plastic, and composite containers up to 4 inches in diameter (12 pocket) and up to 6 inches in diameter (6 pocket). The machine is also capable of running non-round containers, further enhancing its versatility.
NW: Does the Compact Rotary have tool-less changeover parts?
Navin: Yes, the Compact Rotary uses the same tool-less quick-change rails and fastener-free magnetic funnels that Spee-Dee’s high speed rotary filler has become known for. And with a reduced base size/footprint, there’s easier access, too. Cleaning, maintenance and changeover are made simple and stress-free, helping reclaim your uptime.
