New research published in Lipids in Health and Disease analyzing InterHealth’s weight loss supplement LOWAT, found that people taking LOWAT for eight weeks lost a total of 9 pounds compared to only 4 pounds in people taking a placebo.
The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study not only showed significant weight loss with LOWAT, but significant increase in adiponectin by 15% and reduction in ghrelin levels by 17% compared to placebo. These findings suggest that LOWAT may influence reducing fat stores as serum adiponectin is inversely correlated to percent of body fat. The reduction of serum ghrelin levels suggests appetite control. Ghrelin is a peptide hormone predominantly produced in stomach and is known to potently enhance eating and weight gain. A significant reduction in body weight and BMI was also seen as early as four weeks in the LOWAT group. A significantly higher 3.0-fold reduction of triglycerides was also observed in the LOWAT group compared to placebo after eight weeks.
