IdeaSphere, New York, NY, has reached an agreement in principle with Weil Lifestyle to assume exclusive, worldwide licensing rights to Weil Nutritional Supplements, a premier line of vitamins and supplements designed, selected and approved by world-renowned integrative medicine pioneer Andrew Weil, M.D. Financial terms were not disclosed.
This partnership with Weil Nutritional Supplements marks another step in IdeaSphere's strategic plan to build a portfolio of science-based, consumer- focused and content-driven health and nutritional products. Other IdeaSphere brands include Twinlab, which includes the Fuel Line of sports and nutritional supplements; Ultra Harvest, a premium food-based line of vitamins and minerals; Nature's Herbs; Alvita Teas; and Rebus Publishing. In November 2005, the company also acquired the non-ephedra assets of the Metabolife brand of dietary supplements.
Under the terms of the agreement, IdeaSphere will be responsible for retail and direct marketing of Weil Nutritional Supplements. The agreement will cover online sales through DrWeil.com and will integrate e-commerce transactions through the Vitamin Advisor, an interactive feature on DrWeil.com that offers customized vitamin and supplement regimens from Dr. Weil, delivered in daily dose packets based on an individual consumer's lifestyle, background and specific health concerns.
"IdeaSphere is committed to providing products and information that help people achieve wellness and promote a healthy lifestyle through a holistic approach," said IdeaSphere President Mark Fox. "The addition of the prestigious Weil brand enhances our already strong stable of product lines and aligns perfectly with our company's mission and vision for the future."
"We are delighted about this new partnership with Dr. Weil," said Tony Robbins, vice chairman of IdeaSphere. Robbins is a world authority on leadership psychology and peak performance who has led the life coaching industry for more than 25 years. "He understands the importance of achieving wellness of both mind and body, and has spent his career helping people become emotionally and physically fit through education, including helping people understand the role of nutritional supplements and healthy products," said Robbins. "It's a great combination."
"Our companies share similar philosophies and a commitment to nutrition and evidence-based science research, and we both create products with premium ingredients that can be applied to an individual's lifestyle and stage of life," said Dr. Andrew Weil. "We are pleased to be associated with an industry leader like IdeaSphere, and we are confident this new arrangement will expand our access to consumers interested in incorporating the products and healing modalities of integrative medicine into a healthy lifestyle," Weil added.
The Weil Nutritional Supplement line of products includes Dr. Weil's expertly blended and balanced condition formulas for Immune Support, Cardio Support, Energy Support and Mood Support, as well as a glucosamine and chondroitin formula for joint health. The cornerstone of the product line is the Vitamin Advisor Complete Daily Pack, a convenient consumer-based product comprising all of Dr. Weil's recommended daily nutrients for overall nutritional needs. Dr. Weil donates all of his after-tax profits from the Weil Nutritional Supplement line to the Weil Foundation, which is dedicated to education, research and support initiatives for integrative medicine.
Through its brands, IdeaSphere currently provides over 1,500 nutrition products including tablets, capsules and powder drink mixes. Each formula reflects the latest medical discoveries, incorporating meticulously researched premium ingredients.
** The worldwide license agreement for Weil Nutritional Supplements excludes Canada.
