New research presented recently at the American College of Nutrition meeting showed that Lowat, from InterHealth Nutraceuticals, significantly reduced body weight by 9 pounds in eight weeks.
For this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study 50 subjects received 900 mg of Lowat or placebo for eight weeks. Results occurred after two weeks, but significant weight loss of more than 9 pounds was seen at eight weeks.
Researchers also measured the fat-burning hormone adiponectin and the hunger-inducing hormone, ghrelin. Adiponectin levels were significantly increased by 15% compared to placebo and ghrelin levels significantly decreased by 17%.
The study is expected to be published in a peer-reviewed journal in the near future. Lowat is a patent-pending ingredient derived from the Ayurvedic plants Piper betle and Dolichos biflorus. For further information: www.interhealthusa.com
