The Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) of the Brazilian Ministry of Health has provided authorization for Bioiberica’s Mobilee as a novel food ingredient. Mobilee is a patented ingredient derived from rooster comb extract that is rich in hyaluronic acid.
Shown to contribute to maintaining joint health and muscular function, Mobilee contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid and other components, including collagen and polysaccharides. Its nutritional characteristics and safety have been tested in six preclinical trials and five randomized clinical trials over the last 12 years. Now available for use in food applications across Brazil, manufacturers across the country are able to meet growing consumer demand for products that support joint health and mobility, according to Bioiberica.
“Mobilee is an innovative product that is naturally absorbed by the human body,” said Daniel Martínez, head of human health R&D at Bioiberica. “Thanks to the synergy of its individual component—hyaluronic acid, collagen and polysaccharides—the benefits Mobilee can offer go far beyond the advantages offered by hyaluronic acid alone. Taking just 80 mg per day for at least two months preserves joint health and muscular function.”
Mobilee is authorized as an ingredient for food supplements and functional foods by the main competent authorities worldwide. These include the European Union (Novel Food), United States (GRAS status), Canada (medicinal supplement), Australia and New Zealand (medicinal supplement and non-traditional ingredient for use in functional foods), India (functional ingredient) and Indonesia and Taiwan (nutritional supplement).
“Brazil is a key market for Bioiberica in the area of joint health, where we are already a market leader with our native type II collagen, b-2Cool, thanks to the strategic partnership with our Brazilian partner, Ayalla,” said Jaume Reguant, director of healthcare at Bioiberica. “Together with them, we will continue to meet the needs of thousands of people who look to maintain healthy joints.”
