ONC Receives Approval & Signs Agreement
Health Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, has approved Ocean Nutrition Canada (ONC) (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) MEG-3 brand omega 3 (EPA and DHA) for use in a broader range of foods by expanding the scope of its Novel Food Application. The approval also increased the amount of EPA and DHA from 50 mg to 100 mg per food serving.
In other developments, ONC has signed a trademark license agreement with Good Foods Enterprises to co-brand with MEG-3 in the launch of Mr. Cookie. Mr. Cookie with MEG-3 will be available in elementary schools around Ontario as part of the school lunch program. Mr. Cookie is a 4-in. wide, individually wrapped cookie that comes in three flavors: Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate. Each nut-free, trans fat free cookie contains 25 mg of MEG-3 EPA/DHA from fish oil.
