Nutrition 21, Inc., Purchase, NY, has launched a marketing campaign in support of Chromax chromium picolinate as a standalone brand. The Chromax campaign officially debuted this month and includes national television advertising enhanced by an aggressive, multi-tiered public relations campaign.
In other news, the company has received derogation in more than 17 member states within the European Union (EU) for Chromax and Zinmax zinc picolinate as ingredients and standalone brands. Nutrition 21 complied with the EU requirements and submitted formal dossiers for these products to multiple EU member states and has thus far received approval to sell both Chromax and Zinmax in more than 17 EU countries, including the U.K., Italy, Portugal, Austria, Sweden and Ireland.
As this issue went to press, FDA requested a two-week extension for the review of Nutrition 21’s qualified health claim petition associating chromium picolinate with a reduced risk of insulin resistance, type II diabetes and related diseases. The company agreed to the extension.
