Degussa Food Ingredients has developed a new product called ALA CD in cooperation with Wacker Fine Chemicals, a cyclodextrin company. The product consists of alpha lipoic acid (ALA) microencapsulated on a molecular level with alpha-cyclodextrin. The patent pending product is dispersible in water. It also offers an improved shelf life, improved taste and lessened throat irritation. In the future, Degussa Food Ingredients will launch a new liquid formulation for beverages and soft gels featuring improved solubility and stability, as well as clinically proven bioavailability.
