Bosch Packaging Technology has introduced the GKF 2500 ASB, the latest model in its high-output GKF 2000 series, to the North American market. The new capsule filler is the descendant of the GKF 2000 introduced in the late 1990s. Control innovations include the use of an industrial PC running Windows NT. A cGMP-compliant touch screen provides the user interface. Software compliant with 21 CFR part 11 is available as an option, as is an improved tablet filling station. The GKF 2500 incorporates tamping plates, which are mounted beneath the dosing disk and which close the space at the bottom of the tamping cavity, in order to contain powder loss. The most obvious difference in the new machine is its appearance. The GKF 2500 ASB mates the improved design of the GKF 2500 with the advanced technology of the Bosch KKE 2500 capsule checkweigher in one integrated unit. The combined system closes the control loop between filler and checkweigher, employing measurements of capsule weight to control the filling process.
