NCI Funds Prostate
Cancer Trial
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bethesda, MD, is funding the first randomized clinical trial to study the effects of tomato lycopene complex and soy isoflavones on prostate health. The trial, to be conducted by Dr. Nagi Kumar and her associates at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute in Tampa, FL, intends to assess the effects of supplementing a group of patients, who have cancer that hasn’t spread beyond the prostate, with various doses of either Lyc-O-Mato® tomato complex or soy isoflavones prior to radical prostatectomy.
