SFI Health has developed a version of its Equazen Pro, a mass market medical food for ADHD support in children and teens, which features Vitux AS’s Concordix Smart Chews technology. This will be the first mass-market product to feature the novel delivery platform, which will appear on labels as natural fruit-flavored jelly chews.
The news comes as SFI Health prepares to launch Equazen Pro, a formula which is designed to address fatty acid deficiencies in people with focus difficulties, at over 4,200 CVS locations throughout the U.S.
“We are particularly proud to be entering CVS in conjunction with SFI Health because both of our organizations are built on evidence-based science and intent on raising the standards in our respective categories,” said Marc Van Maris, Vitux AS senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Boosting Bioavailability and Fostering Compliance
With a jelly-like matrix, ConCordix Smart Chews have a large capacity, and have been evidenced to have enhanced bioavailability, are free of synthetic colors and common allergens, contain fish, and are non-GMO with no added sugar. The single-serve blister packs are able to preserve freshness and odor transfer.
The ConCordix technology delivers tiny oil droplets of nutrients in an emulsion, similarly to how fatty acids are stored in fish. These tiny droplets increase contact surface in the digestive system, to support increased absorption and bioavailability.
Equazen Pro, which is used under medical supervision, contains 1700 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per serving to support focus, attention, and a balanced mod.
“We are excited to step into the chewable category with Equazen Pro Jelly Chews because they carry a clinically relevant dosage, which was not possible with gummies. With their natural fruit flavor and no fishy smell, taste, or burps, Jelly Chews will improve compliance among children who have difficulties swallowing softgels,” said Divya Ramakrishnan, SFI Health general manager, Americas.
“Everyone tends to be surprised when they first experience this new delivery technology,” said Van Maris. “You can read about it and research it, but until you try a sample for yourself, you won’t understand why ConCordix Smart Chews are so readily accepted.”
According to research conducted by the companies, Smart Chews had a 99% compliance rate and zero dropouts for recommended daily servings among caretakers and their children between the ages of four and 12.
Concordix Smart Chews are available in a growing list of formulas, including omega-3s, multivitamins, and formulas for immune and eye support.
