PLT Health Solutions will highlight its portfolio of ingredients suitable for functional beverages at this year’s IFT First event, which includes more than a dozen water-dispersible and water-soluble solutions.
At the event, the company will focus on energy, cognitive health, sports/active nutrition, and weight management ingredients.
For the first time at the show, the company will showcase Cellflo6, a green tea extract formulated for energy and sports beverages designed to promote endurance, energy, recovery, and blood flow.
Many of PLT’s beverage-friendly ingredients are designed and chosen for fast action, to improve consumer experience compared to competing products.
The company will also be presenting new findings from a clinical study on Zynamite, a non-stimulant energy, mood, and cognitive performance ingredient, at IFT’s Taste of Science and Sample Stop event on July 15 at 3:15 p.m.
Consumer experience is becoming a critical factor for product success, said Steve Fink, vice president of marketing at PLT Health Solutions. Beyond the basic need for efficacy, “Today’s consumers expect more than just results,” he said. “They’re looking for products that align with their values and deliver a complete experience. That includes clean sourcing, traceability, and certifications, but also faster effects, enjoyable delivery formats, and standout packaging. In many ways, the experience of a product has become just as important as the science behind it. At IFT, we want the food and beverage industry to visit our booth, sample our ingredients, and feel the science.”
In the energy category, PLT offers both stimulant and non-stimulant energy ingredients, such as ZumXR extended release caffeine and Zynamite, including the Zynamite S water-soluble format.
For cognitive support, the company will be presenting its Rhodiolife Rhodiola rosea ingredient, which is an adaptogen formulated for mental and physical stress and emotional balance, along with Zembrin Sceletium tortuosum, which is clinically studied for its role in reducing stress and enhancing mood within two hours of digestion.
As part of its sports/active nutrition portfolio, the company’s ingredients include MegaNatural-BP grape seed extract and Cellflo6 for enhanced blood flow and physical performance.
For weight management, the company offers Slendacor Weight Management Complex and Supresa Crave Control. Slendacor has been clinically evidenced to support weight loss, non-stimulant calorie burning, and body shaping benefits. Supresa has been clinically evidenced to help people resist the urge to snack. Both MegaNatural-BP and Slendacor are also evidenced to support cardiometabolic function.
Consumers are turning to more convenient delivery systems, and the company has been working across its entire portfolio to create or modify ingredients to make them formulation-friendly in new delivery systems.
“For a variety of reasons, beverages present a range of challenges when it comes to consumer sensory and experience. This is especially true when it comes to plant-based and botanical ingredients,” Fink said. “In approaching this development work, we’ve focused on things beverage producers want: uniform particle size and density, good water dispersibility/solubility, neutral taste and color and stability. At the same time, our beverage-friendly ingredients maintain features that every product developer wants: that they are fast-acting to the point of being experiential, they are low dose and maybe most importantly, they are backed by quality clinical science.”
