TSI Group Ltd., Missoula, MT, has been granted self-affirmed GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status for its PEAK ATP (Adenosine 5’-Triphosphate Disodium or ATP) for use in functional food bars and powders. This new accreditation complements a comprehensive technical dossier that includes strong efficacy and safety data, non-GMO, kosher and cGMP manufacturing accreditations, according to the company.
A leading independent panel of experts reviewed the ingredient’s comprehensive scientific evidence covering the oral use of PEAK ATP for application in nutritional bars and powders, prior to issuing a favorable GRAS opinion.
“There is tremendous demand today for us to expand our ingredient reach into the food and functional foods markets,” said TSI USA Inc. president Larry Kolb. “Having this GRAS affirmation allows us to take PEAK ATP’s unique performance and health benefits into foods, and that’s an exciting development for PEAK ATP.”
PEAK ATP is a patented and clinically proven to increase strength and power during times of intense exercise along with improving blood flow, lean body mass and reducing muscular fatigue, according to TSI. It is not listed on the World Anti-Doping Code 2013 prohibited list by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
