Olly has expanded its women’s health line of products with Mellow Menopause, a clinically-studied formula designed to help manage hot flashes, night sweats, mood, fatigue, and sleep challenges.
An unpublished clinical study on the product was recently completed, which supported claims in each of these menopause symptoms. With the rollout of the new product, Olly also shared a company-wide menopause policy designed to support employees through menopause and its associated challenges.
Mintel reported that 43% of U.S. women are currently experiencing perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause, but this population is underserved in the proportion of consumer products designed to handle symptom relief.
Mellow Menopause contains two essential ingredients: EstroG-100, a blend of botanicals associated with menopause symptom relief; and GABA, which is associated with reduced effects of mental stress and relaxation.
Mellow Menopause is also hormone-, gluten-, soy-, estrogen, and drug-free, and is certified vegan. It contains no added flavors or sweeteners.
According to the company, the clinical study on the formula supports claims including:
"Menopause is a stage of life all women will experience, yet we're offered very little education or support on the topic," said Shikha Snigdha, PhD, senior director of scientific affairs at Olly. "Our approach to developing Mellow Menopause was guided by a deep commitment to addressing the unique and varied symptoms women experience during menopause. The goal was to create an offering that provides comprehensive relief during the menopause transition, making this often-challenging phase of life a bit easier to navigate. We're incredibly encouraged by the results from the product's clinical study and know that this product will make a real impact on women."
Mellow Menopause is the latest in Olly’s Women’s Wellness line, which includes Women's Multi, Beat the Bloat, Happy Hoo-Ha, Lovin' Libido, and more.
Coupled with the Mellow Menopause launch, OLLY shared its first employee health benefit policy addressing menopause. The OLLY Menopause Policy is designed to support any employee experiencing menopause symptoms which can impact work life, similar to experiences like pregnancy or care-giving that are commonly recognized in the workplace. Dr. Kiarra King, OBGYN, a women’s wellness expert partnered with Olly, advised on the policy, and is supporting the product launch.
"At OLLY, we believe that we can only ask our community to get real about taboo topics like menopause if we first do that internally," said Hanneke Willenborg, OLLY CEO. "By offering this policy, our goal is to not only support employees but create open conversations about menopause in our office and with our community. As someone personally going through menopause, it's even more important to me that OLLY is leading the way in this space."
The policy will include coverage for all employees, flexible work hours to accommodate for menopause symptoms, work-from-home accommodations, in-office arrangements such as quiet wellness rooms or adjusted settings, and access to extended reproductive care benefits that encompass menopause.
