Floré, a company specializing in customized probiotics, announced the launch of two new probiotic products formulated for and studied in people with autism spectrum disorder. The new products, Pathways Support and Mood Support, were clinically-studied for potential benefits in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The two supplement products were formulated based on a clinical study evaluating a precision prebiotic preparation in 296 children and adults diagnosed with ASD, with a control group of 123 age-matched neurotypical controls. A three-month treatment was associated with significant improvements in the ASD cohort’s relevant symptoms, such as GI discomfort, along with overall improved language, comprehension, cognition, thinking, and speech, as assessed by a battery of tests.
More broadly, the research also highlighted how customized probiotic supplementation based on an individual’s gut microbiome, as well as certain dietary habits, may play an important role in improving beneficial bacteria profiles in the gut.
Pathways Support was crafted to enhance metabolic function, boost thiamine, reduce harmful bacteria, and improve gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels for neurodiverse individuals and/or those with ASD.
Mood Support was designed to manage mood and overall mental well-being of individuals experiencing neurodiversity. By enhancing gut health, the probiotoic mix is designed to improve focus, reduce irritability, and stabilize mood variations associated with ASD.
Both products contain no artificial additives, making them suitable for individuals with dietary restrictions and sensitivities commonly associated with neurodiversity and ASD.
“Having seen the immensely positive impact our customized probiotics had on participants during the study, we set out to create products that could provide widespread support and improved well-being for anyone experiencing neurodiversity,” said Craig Rouskey, recently-appointed CEO at Floré. “At Floré, we are continuously leveraging research to innovate new and cutting-edge solutions to not only improve physical health but also enhance the overall quality of life for so many around the world.”
