Lallemand Inc, a global biotech company headquartered in Canada, has closed the acquisition of Swiss biotechnology business Evolva AG from Evolva Holding AG.
The transaction was originally announced to the Swiss Stock Exchange on Nov. 21, 2023 and was approved by Evolva Holding shareholders at a meeting on Dec. 21, 2023. Lallemand acquired Evolva through its subsidiary, Danstar Ferment AG.
Headquartered in Reinach, Basel (Switzerland) Evolva is focused on the research, development, and commercialization of natural ingredients derived from yeast for applications across the flavors and fragrances, health Ingredients, cosmetics, and health protection industries.
“Evolva offers us a strong strategic fit with our yeast-based technology platform,” said President of Lallemand Bio-Ingredients Lars Asferg. “Evolva’s proprietary precision fermentation technology and R&D capabilities presents an ideal platform from which to expand our product offering mainly within health ingredients like Veri-te resveratrol and flavor & fragrance aroma components like Valencene and natural Nootkatone.”
