Jiaherb, a global manufacturer of natural ingredients and botanical extracts, announced that its new facility and farm in China has received USDA Organic certification. The expansion is part of the company’s expansion to meet demand for high-quality botanical extracts.
The company chose the Mount Tibai region due to its rich biodiversity, unique climate, and pristine environment. The new farm is optimal for the cultivation of the company’s premium ingredients, which include Rhodiola rosea, feverfew, nettle, flaxseed, valerian, Rhapontici radix, and lemon balm.
To ensure organic certification, all chemical fertilizers are fully excluded from the farm, with only organic materials used.
The certification, under the U.S. National Organic Program (NOP 7 CFR Part 205), was conducted by the German company Kiwa BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH. NOP is a program which develops and enforces national standards for organically-produced agricultural products, and covers guidelines for production, handling, labeling, and certification.
NOP certification verifies compliance with organic cultivation and processing standards, and that farmers avoid synthetic pesticides and GMOs, which promotes soil health and biodiversity.
“We are excited to announce the establishment of our certified organic farm,” said Scott Chen, president. “This milestone shows our commitment to promote sustainable agriculture and deliver, premium, organic ingredients to the marketplace.”
“The organic certification aligns with the increasing consumer demand for sustainable, transparent, and environmentally friendly ingredients in the market,” said Chris Oesterheld, executive vice president. “We are excited to deliver that to manufacturers for new product development and continued innovation.”
