Activ’Inside, a French ingredient supplier specializing in botanical ingredients for dietary supplements, announced that it has invested $13 million to build a contract manufacturing factory in Beychac and Caillau, France.
The company, which was created in 2009, is known for its botanical ingredients for dietary supplements, and it now wishes to offer a 360-degree service from scientifically-validated ingredients to customized dietary supplements.
“We have noticed an evolution of our customers’ requests for a while now,” said Benoit Lemaire, CEO and co-founder of Activ’Inside. “While they used to ask us for innovative and effective ingredients to formulate, they are now requesting for complete support from the choices of ingredients to the realization of the finished product, all with a marketing perspective and regulatory validation. These customers’ needs are the reasoning behind Activ’Inside Manufacturing.”
A new building with a surface area of 3200 square meters is currently under construction and will be completed during the first half of 2023. The factory will be 500 meters from the company’s headquarters, and will be comprised of an application laboratory with equipment allowing Activ’Inside to develop, analyze, and control the quality of products under optimal conditions.
The factory will house multiple production lines: premixing, which includes weighing, mixing, grinding, sieving, and bulk packaging; the manufacturing of pectin-based gummies and capsules; and packaging in pillboxes, sticks, and doypacks.
The production facility will integrate production technologies for dry galenic forms and gummies in an environment which is controlled and monitored 24 hours daily, seven days a week.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) pledge, the company’s development activities have adopted a sustainable framework in terms of environmental and social policy, the company reports.
"The construction of the site was designed to limit our environmental impact and achieve a high level of energy performance of the building, particularly through an innovative heat recovery system,” said Stéphane Rey, Activ’Inside co-founder. “In addition, we are equipping ourselves with hi-tech industrial equipment in terms of the environment, such as a production line dedicated to manufacture gummies (with a low water consumption). Future installations of a 1,000m² photovoltaic panels are also planned in order to achieve auto-consumption of the electricity produced. Further approach will be taken in regard to the factory's operations, such as the eco-design of products and the waste management plan.”
"This ambitious project would not have been possible without the support of our shareholders, Aquiti Gestion and Bpi France, the France Relance program of Bpi and the ERDF as well as FEDER (Fonds Européen de Développement Régional) proposed by the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region” said David Gaudout, Activ’Inside co-founder.
