The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED) is ringing in 2022 with the creation of a new position and additions to its staff.
Chris Gearheart has been appointed to the newly-created director of growth and engagement role, where he will concentrate on projects leveraging technology and data mining to explore ways to build revenue for the organization outside of member dues. Gearheart has been with GOED since 2015, having previously served as director of member communications and engagement.
Kaitlin Roke, PhD, joined GOED as the director of scientific communication and outreach. Roke began working with GOED in a consulting role in 2018, helping to build and refine its clinical study database, slated to launch next month. Roke will be the key liaison for users accessing this research tool. Roke's PhD research focused on omega-3s, and previous work experience includes a role at another nutrient-based not-for-profit, and an analyst position in the healthcare sector of the Canadian government.
Vicky Lin will be GOED’s new communications manager, and will handle member communications including the GOED Current weekly newsletter, and supporting outreach to consumer and healthcare practitioner audiences. Lin has a background designing educational content, newsletters, videos, and social media outreach in various positions, and speaks fluent Chinese.
“As we continue on our five-year strategic roadmap, these roles are crucial for the continued growth and evolution of GOED and how we can best serve our members and the omega-3 community,” Ellen Schutt, executive director of GOED, said. “We are lucky to have attracted and retained such talented individuals who will be strong assets to our organization.”
