Japanese alternative meat venture company Next Meats Co., Ltd. recently announced the launch of the “Next Meats Accelerator Program,” which proposes and serves as a platform to conduct worldwide open innovation among the players in the alternative protein industry, as well as individuals and companies who are serious about tackling the climate crisis problem.
The accelerator program aims to unite researchers, a wide range of business experts, and companies both within and outside of the alternative protein industry who are serious about counteracting climate change, to together cultivate worldwide business opportunities that benefit environmental and social sustainability. The program will be simultaneously held in Japanese, English, and Chinese.
Next Meats said in the announcement that the fight against climate change can be much more effective and swift if skilled, passionate entities come together to combine technologies, expertise, networking ability, and other resources. In order to address the urgency of the climate crisis facing humanity on a global scale, the industry must cooperate and rapidly co-create, rather than engage in competition focused on profitability, small market shares, and minimal environmental impact, Next Meats said; hence, the accelerator program was launched.
Application Overview
The Accelerator program is seeking all companies, researchers, and experienced individuals who “take climate action seriously, and are interested in developing cutting-edge, never-before-seen alternative meat products and environmental solutions with us and participating global companies,” Next Meats said. Specific industries the company mentioned include food-tech, bio-tech, agriculture, hardware, AI, and IoT (Internet of Things) big data.
It is not required that applicants currently specialize in alternative meats, as long as it is in the applicant’s mutual interest to contribute to the research and development of products created in the program.
The application period will be held entirely online here, throughout the entire month of March.
