Solv Wellness, a supplement brand specializing in women’s health, has launched GennaMD, a new cranberry supplement formulated to support UTI prevention.

The brand first introduced a cranberry supplement which contained 36 mg of proanthocyanidin (PAC) in 2010. The new supplement, which was developed in direct partnership with botanical ingredient suppliers, is more advanced and affordable thanks to a refined extraction process.

“I am enthusiastic to recommend GennaMD for my patients, which provides the trusted soluble PAC ingredient we have used for over a decade for urinary tract infection prevention, in an even more concentrated formulation,” said Melissa Kaufman, MD, PhD, professor of urology at Vanderbilt University and spokesperson for the company.

While most other cranberry supplements contain PAC concentrations of up to 18%, GennaMD contains 30%, as a result of a proprietary ingredient called bioPAC. The ingredient contains no unnecessary fillers, making it the smallest UTI supplement by serving volume available, according to the company.

GennaMD’s bioPAC ingredient has been supported by three clinical studies, according to Solv Wellness, while many more studies indicate that soluble PACs from cranberry juice may be helpful in UTI prevention.

“Solv Wellness has consistently delivered on high-quality, reliable products to improve the lives of those suffering with recurrent UTIs,” said Seth Cohen, MD, FACS, urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgeon and assistant clinical professor at City of Hope, and spokesperson for the company. “I am excited to have GennaMD available for patients; with its smaller capsule and increased potency, this innovation provides us with a compelling tool to advance UTI prophylaxis regimens.”

“Antibiotic resistance is a growing concern globally,” said Terri Wade, CEO of Solv Wellness. “With GennaMD, we are not only reaffirming our commitment to raise the bar for evidence-based UTI solutions, but also embarking on an ambitious plan to make effective non-antibiotic UTI prevention more accessible for UTI sufferers around the globe.”
