Sabinsa CEO Shaheen Majeed Elected Vice Chairman of CII Committee on Intellectual Property Rights

Shaheen Majeed, global CEO and managing director of Sami-Sabinsa Group, has been elected as vice chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights.
 
CII is a non-government, non-profit organization led and managed by industry, with 9,000 members form the private and public sectors, and indirect membership of over 365,000 businesses from 294 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.
 
CII’s National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights is made up of leaders from various sectors who recommend policies, educate stakeholders, further best practices, and organize discussion platforms around issues related to IP.
 
Majeed will use his experience in the nutraceuticals industry to lead initiatives that will help businesses drive innovation in various sectors. During his career, he has helped Sabinsa build a portfolio of 500 granted patents. Majeed himself holds 62 U.S. and international patents, and has authored 31 peer-reviewed publications.
 
“India is progressing in the global innovation index (GII) and is globally viewed as one of the fastest-growing economies in terms of innovation, a testament to cutting-edge technologies and scientific advancements,” Majeed said. “CII has consistently supported industries and startups in fostering innovation ecosystem through a strong intellectual property framework.
